Kashmore, December 16, 2025: Sindh Police on Tuesday recovered 11 of the 19 passengers abducted after armed bandits attacked a passenger bus in Kashmore district, officials said, as efforts continue to secure the release of the remaining hostages.

The incident occurred on the Guddu–Kashmore Road near Murid Shakh, where more than 20 assailants intercepted the bus, opened fire, smashed its windows and forcibly abducted several passengers.

Following the attack, police swiftly cordoned off the area and set up multiple checkpoints to block the escape routes of the bandits. An exchange of fire later took place between police and the suspects in the Somiani area during the search operation.

Authorities said drones were deployed as part of the operation, enabling police to track the movement of the attackers. The aerial surveillance reportedly forced the bandits to abandon some of the hostages, leading to the safe recovery of 11 passengers.

Police said some of the rescued passengers sustained minor injuries and were provided immediate medical assistance. The remaining abducted passengers are still missing, and search operations are ongoing to ensure their safe recovery.

SSP Sukkur Azhar Mughal said police teams were carrying out investigations and targeted raids to identify and apprehend those involved in the attack.

The incident highlights the persistent security challenges in remote parts of upper Sindh, where banditry and organised attacks on public transport continue to pose serious threats. Officials said the operation also demonstrated the increasing use of technology, including drones, to counter criminal activity and improve law enforcement response.
