Islamabad, December 24,2025: Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Takhtaev, on Wednesday said that Uzbekistan and Pakistan are working to further strengthen their trade, economic, and investment cooperation through practical and mutually beneficial initiatives.

In a statement following his meeting with Ihsan Afzal Khan, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Trade and Industry, the Uzbek envoy said the discussions focused on enhancing industrial cooperation, trade facilitation, logistics, and the development of efficient transit routes between the two countries.

Ambassador Takhtaev noted steady growth in bilateral trade, revealing that from January to November this year, mutual trade turnover reached USD 434 million. He said particular attention was paid to removing transit barriers, simplifying customs procedures, and strengthening transport connectivity to support further expansion in trade volumes.

The meeting also reviewed progress and prospects related to the Trans-Afghan Railway project, expansion of the list of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement, and attracting Pakistani investments to Uzbekistan. The two sides further discussed promoting tourism cooperation, including the possible launch of a direct Tashkent–Karachi flight to enhance people-to-people exchanges and business travel.

The Uzbek ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continued engagement with Pakistan to further deepen practical cooperation and unlock the full potential of the bilateral partnership across multiple sectors.
