Islamabad, January 2, 2026: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) delivered an outstanding performance across all sectors during 2025 by effectively implementing the federal government’s reform agenda and the Ministry of Energy’s (Power Division) digitalisation drive, Chief Executive Officer Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood said on Sunday.

According to a press release, the CEO said that to provide quality, timely and digital services to consumers, IESCO ensured region-wide rollout of the “Apna Meter Apni Reading” mobile application and enhanced 118 call-line services, following their inauguration by the Prime Minister and the Federal Minister for Energy.

Engineer Khalid Mahmood said special emphasis was placed on the use of modern technology and digitalisation to ensure transparency and efficiency in customer services, operations, construction, grid services and other departments.

Elaborating on key achievements, he said that under the ongoing anti-electricity theft campaign, fines exceeding Rs5.5 billion were imposed on electricity thieves, while outstanding dues of more than Rs6.99 billion were recovered from defaulters. He added that 3,185 electricity thieves were arrested with the support of law enforcement agencies.

To enhance public safety, the CEO said IESCO spent Rs2.16 billion from its own budget to prevent electrical accidents and secured more than 10,000 hazardous electrical points across its jurisdiction. He added that state-of-the-art customer facilitation centres were established to provide solutions to electricity-related issues under one roof.

Engineer Khalid Mahmood further stated that the installation of internationally advanced Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters has been completed by over 90 per cent in Rawalpindi circles, describing it as a revolutionary initiative of the Government of Pakistan in the power sector.

He said IESCO also focused on capacity-building by conducting multiple training sessions for officers and staff, while providing modern tools, equipment and protective gear to line staff to ensure their safety.

Reaffirming his commitment to maintaining this momentum in 2026, the IESCO chief said the company would continue striving to retain its distinctive position in Pakistan’s power sector. He also paid tribute to the dedication and hard work of IESCO officers and staff.
