Islamabad, January 6, 2026: Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Pakistan, Mr. Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddiq, on Tuesday highlighted the long-standing, brotherly, and historic relations between Sudan and Pakistan, noting their steady growth across political, economic, and cultural spheres.

The ambassador made these remarks while addressing a reception held in Islamabad to mark Sudan’s National Day, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Sudan. He noted that diplomatic relations between Sudan and Pakistan were established soon after Sudan gained independence in 1956 and have continued to strengthen over the decades, founded on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared values.

Welcoming guests to the Sudanese Embassy, Mr. Siddiq said the independence of Sudan marked a pivotal milestone in the nation’s struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and national dignity. He paid tribute to the founding fathers of Sudan, whose patriotism, determination, and belief in self-determination laid the foundations of the independent Sudanese state.

“Celebrating National Day is not only about recalling the past,” he said, “but also about renewing our commitment to unity, solidarity, and collective action to build a better future based on peace, security, development, and prosperity.”

Addressing the current situation in Sudan, the ambassador acknowledged the significant challenges faced by the country in recent years, including conflict and humanitarian suffering. He emphasized, however, that the resolve of the Sudanese people has remained unbroken, citing their support for the national armed forces in what he described as the “War of Dignity,” under the leadership of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. He expressed confidence that remaining areas in Kordofan and Darfur would be fully liberated in the near future, particularly following recent military gains.

Mr. Siddiq also referred to renewed optimism following the formation of the “Government of Hope” under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris. He said the government has begun its work and announced positive developments across various sectors, expected to materialize during the current year.

He noted that Sudan has presented a comprehensive national peace plan to the United Nations Security Council, which has been welcomed by the UN, the League of Arab States, the African Union, and other international partners. This, he said, reinforces Sudan’s aspirations for a peaceful, united, and prosperous future where justice and dignity are ensured for all citizens.

Concluding his remarks, the ambassador offered prayers for peace and stability across Sudan, success for its armed forces, mercy for the martyrs, recovery for the wounded, and the safe return of prisoners and missing persons. He also extended his wishes for peace, security, and prosperity to all nations that cherish harmony and coexistence.
