Jeddah, January 11, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has categorically rejected Israel’s recognition of the so-called “Somaliland,” terming it illegal and a clear violation of international law.
Addressing the 22nd Extraordinary Session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He warned that recognition of Somaliland sets a dangerous precedent and could have far-reaching implications for peace and security in the Horn of Africa and beyond.
The foreign minister also reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the Palestinian cause, emphasizing Islamabad’s continued support for the establishment of an independent, contiguous, and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Additionally, Dar urged the OIC to intensify efforts on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, calling for the realization of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and their legitimate aspirations.
