Islamabad, March 5, 2026: The Embassy of the Philippines in Islamabad, led by Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, continued its active diplomatic outreach through engagements across multilateral, bilateral, and civil society platforms during the past week.

On February 23, Ambassador Fernandez and Mme. Alicia Kalaw Fernandez attended the 42nd National Day reception of Brunei Darussalam hosted by Ambassador Colonel (Ret) Pengiran Hj Kamal Bashah Pengiran Hj Ahmad at the Serena Hotel Islamabad. The event brought together members of the diplomatic community and reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening ties within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and with diplomatic partners in Pakistan.

On February 25, the Ambassador and Mme. Fernandez attended an Iftar dinner hosted by Malaysian High Commissioner Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan at the High Commission of Malaysia in Pakistan. The gathering highlighted the Philippines’ solidarity with Malaysia and the wider Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan, while promoting interfaith harmony and people-to-people connections.

A day later, on February 26, Ambassador Fernandez held a meeting with Samuel Payara, President of the Bright Future Society and Chairperson of the Implementation Minority Rights Forum. Discussions focused on minority rights advocacy, interfaith harmony, and expanding educational opportunities.

According to the embassy, the meeting reflected its openness to constructive engagement with civil society and its support for dialogue, inclusivity, and respect for fundamental rights.

Throughout the week, the Philippine Embassy said it continued to advance its diplomatic outreach by strengthening regional camaraderie, promoting cultural engagement, and encouraging principled dialogue—underscoring its commitment to partnership, mutual respect, and shared values.
