Islamabad, March 05, 2026: Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, met with Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The two sides reviewed the current state of relations amid recent regional developments, stressing the need for stable and resilient trade links. They agreed to improve business facilitation and address mutual challenges.

Key discussions focused on revitalizing the Joint Business Council to promote regular business community interactions, joint ventures, and investment opportunities.

The Coordinator raised concerns over visa hurdles for Pakistani businessmen, particularly the lack of e-visa facilities, which limit frequent travel and trade. He called for streamlined visa procedures to boost commercial engagement.

Both parties exchanged views on rising business costs, including the effects of US tariffs on global trade, and explored mitigation strategies to enhance competitiveness.

The Coordinator offered support for Egyptian businesses eyeing opportunities in Pakistan, reaffirming the government’s commitment to an investor-friendly environment. Opportunities for Pakistani investment in Egypt’s various sectors were also highlighted.

The meeting ended with a shared pledge to strengthen institutional ties, remove trade barriers, and foster a dynamic, mutually beneficial economic partnership.
