Karachi, November 4, 2024-During a hearing in the Sindh High Court regarding the case of the minor girl’s abuse and death in the mansion of the Pir in Ranipur, the girl’s mother recorded her statement.
In court, Fatima’s mother, the deceased girl, stated that they were threatened and intimidated into signing the settlement agreement. She expressed the desire for the case to reach its logical conclusion and for those responsible to be punished.
The mother’s lawyer requested that the case be tried in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). The Sindh High Court has sent the case back to the Khairpur ATC.
Earlier, the ATC had ordered the case to be transferred to the Sessions Court, after which the Sessions Court sent a reference to the Sindh High Court against the ATC’s decision.
It is worth noting that a few months ago, Fatima’s mother had submitted an affidavit in court, declaring her daughter’s death as natural and stating that the arrested suspects were innocent. She mentioned that she would not object if the court granted bail to the arrested suspects.
In August 2023, a video of young Fatima writhing in pain in the Pir’s mansion went viral. Following her death, the initial post-mortem report confirmed signs of abuse and assault. After the case was filed, suspects named Pir Asadullah Shah, Pir Fayyaz Shah, Hina Shah, and Imtiaz were arrested.
