Lahore, April 1, 2026: Opening batter Fakhar Zaman has filed an appeal against his two-match suspension after being found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct, sources confirmed on Wednesday.
The suspension was announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board earlier this week following an incident during Lahore Qalandars’ match against Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The controversy unfolded in the closing stages of the match when on-field umpires penalised Lahore Qalandars by awarding five runs to Karachi Kings and ordered a ball change ahead of the final over. The charge was brought by umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, along with television umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed.
Fakhar Zaman was charged under Article 2.14 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which relates to altering the condition of the ball in violation of playing regulations. He denied the allegation and requested a full disciplinary hearing.
The hearing was conducted by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who reviewed the evidence and granted the player a personal hearing. Representatives of Lahore Qalandars, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, team director Sameen Rana, and manager Farooq Anwar, were also present.
Under PSL regulations, a Level 3 offence carries a minimum penalty of a one-match suspension and a maximum of two matches.
Sources said that Fakhar Zaman has now formally appealed the decision to the PSL Technical Committee.
Meanwhile, Lahore Qalandars are scheduled to face Multan Sultans on April 3 at Gaddafi Stadium, followed by a match against Islamabad United on April 9 at National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
