Multan/Islamabad, April 19,2026: The High Commissioner of Rwanda to Pakistan, Fatou Harerimana, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at Gilani House, where both sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments, and areas of mutual cooperation.
According to a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat Media Directorate, the meeting focused on strengthening Pakistan–Rwanda relations at both bilateral and multilateral levels, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to expanding diplomatic and economic engagement.
During the meeting, Gilani highlighted the cultural and historical significance of Multan, describing it as a 5,000-year-old city known as the “City of Saints.” He emphasized its rich Sufi heritage, historic shrines, and globally recognized blue pottery, which continues to attract international attention.
He further noted that Pakistan attaches great importance to strengthening ties with African nations and expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in diverse sectors. Gilani also announced that a Pakistani delegation would soon undertake a visit to Rwanda to enhance bilateral engagement.
Recalling his earlier public service roles, Gilani stated that initiatives had been taken during his tenure to promote tourism in South Punjab, including Multan, while ensuring security for foreign visitors.
High Commissioner Harerimana expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended during her visit—her first to Multan—and appreciated the city’s historical landmarks and renowned craftsmanship, particularly its blue pottery. She described the visit as a memorable experience.
She also planted a sapling at Gilani House and showed keen interest in local agriculture, particularly mango orchards. In response, Gilani noted that Multan’s mangoes are internationally acclaimed for their quality and flavor.
The meeting was also attended by Colonel Shyaka Kajugiro Ismail, along with several members of the Gilani family and senior officials.
