Murree/Rawalpindi, April 20, 2026: District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Raza Tanveer Sipra on Monday announced that Murree Police achieved a 90 percent success rate in tackling serious crimes during 2026, highlighting significant progress in law enforcement and public safety across the district.

Addressing a press conference, the DPO said police arrested 12 suspects involved in murder cases and successfully rescued 17 kidnapping victims, including two children and 15 women. He added that stolen assets worth more than Rs11 million were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

As part of ongoing operations, Murree Police also seized 40 kilograms of hashish and arrested 36 proclaimed offenders. Crackdowns on financial crimes led to the recovery of 45 tolas of gold, valued at approximately Rs9 million, along with Rs2 million in cash, 18 cattle, and seven mobile phones.

To address rising vehicle theft cases, the DPO said a dedicated Anti-Vehicle Lifting Squad has been established, while action against illegal arms resulted in the seizure of 18 pistols and four rifles. He noted that several dangerous criminals wanted in cases of robbery and murder had been apprehended.

Highlighting steps toward modern policing, Dr. Sipra said the Safe City Project in Murree has been completed, with surveillance cameras installed across key points and the emergency helpline system integrated directly with the Murree Control Room.

He further announced the launch of public facilitation initiatives, including a “Text to DPO” service for direct complaint registration and a dedicated tourism mobile application to assist visitors.

In addition, the police held 17 “Khuli Kacheris” (open courts) across the district to address public grievances on the spot. To strengthen the force, recruitment of 160 new personnel has been completed strictly on merit.

The DPO reaffirmed that maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety remain top priorities for Murree Police.
