Bucharest, May 4,2026: Romania has marked a significant step forward in defense and innovation with the launch of Europe’s first “drone carrier” at the Damen Shipyard in Galați.

This advanced naval platform is purpose-built to deploy and operate unmanned aerial systems, signaling a shift toward modern military capabilities where drones are essential for surveillance, security, and tactical missions.

The initiative showcases Romania’s expanding know-how in high-tech shipbuilding and defense, blending strong local industry with forward-looking solutions tailored to today’s security landscape.

Beyond its technical achievement, the vessel strengthens Romania’s position as an important player in Europe’s next-generation defense ecosystem, contributing to regional security and technological progress.
