Rawalpindi, May 8, 2026: Security forces killed five militants belonging to what the military described as “Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij” in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), four militants were neutralized in an operation conducted in Tank District after security forces received intelligence about their presence.

Troops effectively engaged the militants’ location, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which all four were killed, the statement said.

In a separate operation in Dera Ismail Khan District, one more militant was killed during another intelligence-based engagement, ISPR added.

The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

ISPR stated that sanitisation operations are currently underway to clear any remaining threats in the area.

The statement reiterated that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, conducted under the national framework “Azm-e-Istehkam,” will continue with full force as part of efforts to eliminate what it termed foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Security officials said law enforcement agencies remain engaged in sustained intelligence-based operations across the province to restore stability and maintain law and order.
