Islamabad, May 21, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday hosted a breakfast meeting in honour of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the occasion of his first official visit to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim Aga Khan V and appreciated his commitment to promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement with governments and international partners. He assured His Highness of Pakistan’s continued support for these shared ideals.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the Aga Khan Development Network and praised the network’s contributions in key sectors including rural development, healthcare, education, disaster resilience, climate adaptation, renewable energy, digital skills training, and youth entrepreneurship.

He particularly acknowledged AKDN’s impactful work in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, especially in remote and vulnerable communities.

The Prime Minister encouraged AKDN to further deepen and expand its partnership with Pakistan, particularly in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, where its institutional presence and community outreach are widely appreciated. He also welcomed greater engagement with Aga Khan University, recognizing its major contributions in healthcare and higher education.

Recognizing Prince Rahim Aga Khan V’s advocacy for environmental stewardship, the Prime Minister said AKDN remains a natural and trusted partner in Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen climate resilience, especially in glacially vulnerable northern regions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked His Highness for visiting Pakistan and remarked that the country would always remain his “second home.” He expressed hope that Prince Rahim Aga Khan V’s regular visits would further strengthen the longstanding bonds between Pakistan and the Ismaili community.

The Prime Minister also conveyed gratitude to Prince Rahim Aga Khan V for making the Islamabad Serena Hotel available free of charge for the Islamabad Talks.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt condolences on the passing of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and paid tribute to his enduring humanitarian legacy and decades-long association with Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also presented a commemorative stamp issued by Pakistan Post in honour of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV in recognition of his services to Pakistan.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome extended to him during his visit and expressed his desire to continue cooperation with Pakistan in various human development initiatives.
