Islamabad, June 2, 2026: The federal government has introduced stringent new regulations governing dual and foreign nationality among civil servants, making disclosure of foreign citizenship and related affiliations mandatory for all government officials.
According to a notification issued for the Civil Servants (Disclosure and Regulation of Foreign Nationality) Rules, 2026, all civil servants will be required to provide complete details of their own foreign nationality, as well as that of their spouses and dependent children.
Under the new rules, government officers must disclose all information related to foreign citizenship, passports, residency status, and any other foreign affiliations. No civil servant will be allowed to acquire a foreign nationality without obtaining prior approval from the competent authority.
The regulations further stipulate that failure to disclose foreign citizenship or related information will result in departmental proceedings. Concealment of foreign nationality has been classified as “misconduct” under the new framework.
Officials found guilty of providing false information, withholding facts, or concealing foreign nationality may face disciplinary action, including termination of service.
The government said the new rules are aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and integrity within the civil service by ensuring full disclosure of foreign nationality-related matters.
