Rawalpindi, June 9, 2026: Security forces killed 14 militants during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Basima district after receiving reports of a planned terrorist attack on a police station and financial institutions in the area, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), intelligence reports received on June 8 indicated the presence of militants belonging to what it described as “Fitna al Hindustan” in the Naal area of District Basima. The group was reportedly planning attacks on a nearby police station and banks.
Acting on the intelligence, security forces swiftly launched an operation to foil the alleged plot. During the operation, troops effectively intercepted and engaged the militants, leading to an intense exchange of fire.
ISPR said that 14 militants were killed during the operation, while several others sustained injuries. Security forces also destroyed four vehicles allegedly being used by the militants, along with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found at the site.
However, during the firefight, Lance Havildar Muhammad Abbass embraced martyrdom while fighting bravely against the militants.
The military paid tribute to the fallen soldier, describing him as a courageous son of the soil who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Following the operation, sanitisation efforts were launched in the area to eliminate any remaining militants and ensure the security of the region.
ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counterterrorism operations under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” aimed at eliminating militancy and ensuring lasting peace and stability across the country.
The military reaffirmed its resolve to continue operations against militant groups and their facilitators, stating that efforts to counter terrorism would proceed with full determination.
