Islamabad, June 13, 2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCoP) to review progress on the divestment process of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL).

According to an official statement, the committee reviewed the steps required to complete the first closing of the transaction and examined related matters concerning the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). It also considered requests submitted by the prospective purchaser under the transaction framework.

The committee took necessary decisions aimed at further advancing the privatization process, reflecting continued government efforts to restructure and reform key state-owned enterprises.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Ministers for Power and Commerce, the Advisor to the Prime Minister on Privatization, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, and senior officials including the Secretaries of Privatization, Planning, and Cabinet Divisions, along with representatives from relevant ministries.

The government has been pursuing a broader privatization agenda intended to improve efficiency, reduce fiscal pressures, and attract investment in state-owned entities, with PIACL among the key assets under consideration.
