Southampton, June 20, 2026: Bangladesh produced a spirited bowling performance to defend a modest total of 123 and defeat Pakistan by 23 runs in the 15th match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at The Rose Bowl on Saturday.
Chasing 124 for victory, Pakistan collapsed dramatically after a promising start, eventually being bowled out for 100 in 20 overs as Bangladesh’s spinners took control in the middle phase of the innings.
Pakistan openers Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali gave their side a steady platform with a 49-run opening stand. Feroza scored 23 off 18 balls, while Muneeba top-scored with a composed 25 from 30 deliveries.
However, the dismissal of Feroza in the eighth over by Nahida Akter triggered a sudden collapse, with Pakistan losing wickets at regular intervals.
Nahida struck again shortly after to remove Muneeba, and from there Pakistan’s batting line-up unravelled, losing seven wickets for just 39 runs in a dramatic turnaround.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack, led by Nahida Akter and Sanjida Akter Meghla, proved decisive as both bowlers claimed three wickets each. Support came from Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni, who picked up a wicket apiece.
Pakistan’s lower order attempted brief resistance, with Nashra Sandhu scoring nine and Tasmia Rubab adding seven, but the effort was not enough to prevent defeat.
Earlier, Bangladesh had posted 123/6 after being asked to bat first, despite a shaky start against Pakistan’s bowling attack.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana led from the front with figures of 2/18, while Tuba Hassan, Tasmia Rubab, Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal all contributed with one wicket each.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana anchored the innings with a patient 36 off 38 balls, while Shorna Akter’s late unbeaten 39 provided crucial runs at the death.
The victory strengthens Bangladesh’s position in the tournament, while Pakistan will need to regroup after a disappointing batting performance in a match where they appeared well placed early in the chase.
