Islamabad, June 20, 2026: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Saturday dismissed what he termed “baseless speculations” regarding any change in the Prime Minister’s Office following the passage of the federal budget 2026–27.
Speaking to reporters, the senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader warned against the spread of rumours and misinformation, saying such narratives were aimed at creating political instability and confusion in the country.
He categorically rejected reports suggesting a possible replacement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, calling the claims misleading and incorrect.
Rana Sanaullah said the prime minister was “steering the country in the right direction” and had played a key role in improving Pakistan’s global standing. “Pakistan has gained recognition and respect across the world,” he added.
He further stated that Shehbaz Sharif’s “sincerity, hard work, and commitment” to addressing national challenges were widely acknowledged across different segments of society.
Responding to questions, the adviser said the government remained open to dialogue with the opposition, noting that democratic engagement was essential for political stability.
He recalled that even during periods when PML-N was in opposition, legal cases were filed against its leadership, yet the party continued to uphold the democratic process.
On regional matters, Rana Sanaullah said the lifting of sanctions on Iran would create positive economic opportunities for Pakistan and could help expand bilateral trade and regional economic cooperation.
Regarding political developments in Gilgit-Baltistan, he said PML-N would play the role of a “constructive opposition,” while noting that the Pakistan Peoples Party had emerged as the leading party and was in consultation with other stakeholders to form a coalition government.
The remarks come amid ongoing political discussions in the country following the approval of the federal budget, with the government seeking to counter speculation about internal changes in leadership.
