Ankara, November 15, 2024 – Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, held a significant diplomatic meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Ali Yerlikaya, during an official visit to Turkey. The discussions aimed to enhance bilateral ties and address pressing mutual concerns, including regional security, economic collaboration, and the repatriation of Pakistani prisoners held in Turkey.

Both leaders underscored the deep historical, cultural, and religious ties that unite Pakistan and Turkey, emphasizing their commitment to transforming these bonds into a sustainable strategic partnership. Minister Naqvi commended the enduring brotherhood between the two nations, describing their growing collaboration as a reflection of shared values and mutual respect.

A key focus of the meeting was the repatriation of three Pakistani nationals detained in Turkey. Minister Naqvi highlighted the humanitarian importance of their return and urged swift action. Minister Yerlikaya assured his counterpart of full cooperation and proposed the dispatch of a delegation of Pakistani experts to expedite the process, stating, “This issue will be reviewed with compassion and care.”

The leaders also discussed global security challenges, condemning terrorism in all forms and expressing solidarity in the fight against this global menace. Minister Naqvi specifically denounced the October 23 terrorist attack in Ankara, emphasizing that terrorism transcends borders and religions. He called for a unified international strategy to eradicate the threat, stating, “Terrorism is a global challenge requiring collective and comprehensive efforts.”

Minister Naqvi extended an invitation to Minister Yerlikaya to visit Pakistan, which was graciously accepted. In response, Minister Yerlikaya remarked, “Pakistan is a brotherly country, and I look forward to visiting Islamabad soon.”

The meeting coincided with Minister Naqvi’s attendance at the SAHA International Expo, where he praised Turkey’s advancements in technology and defense. The event highlighted the potential for deeper collaboration between the two countries in these critical sectors.

This high-level engagement reaffirmed the historic bond between Pakistan and Turkey. With discussions progressing on multiple fronts, the two nations are poised to deepen their partnership for the benefit of their peoples. Minister Naqvi’s visit concluded on an optimistic note, reflecting a shared vision for stronger bilateral cooperation and an enduring friendship.
