Islamabad, June 26, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday paid rich tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the Ahl-e-Bait (AS), and the martyrs of Karbala on the occasion of Ashura, describing their sacrifice as an eternal symbol of courage, steadfastness and the unwavering pursuit of truth and justice.
In a message marking Ashura, the Speaker said the tragedy of Karbala remains one of the most defining chapters in Islamic history, offering timeless lessons in dignity, perseverance and moral conviction. He said Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his devoted companions chose the path of honour and principle rather than submitting to tyranny and injustice, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire humanity across generations.
“Ashura stands as a timeless symbol of sacrifice, steadfastness and the unwavering pursuit of truth and justice,” Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said, adding that the eternal legacy of Karbala continues to illuminate the path of humanity and inspire resistance against oppression.
The Speaker emphasized that the message of Karbala underscores the values of justice, compassion, tolerance and mutual respect, which form the foundation of peaceful and progressive societies. He noted that contemporary challenges such as extremism, intolerance and violence can only be addressed through unity, collective resolve and adherence to principles that promote social harmony and national cohesion.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said their ongoing struggle for justice, dignity and the realization of their legitimate rights reflects the universal principles embodied by the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). He said standing against oppression, defending human rights and remaining steadfast in the face of adversity represent the true spirit of Karbala and its enduring relevance in the modern world.
The National Assembly Speaker also underscored the need to strengthen unity, understanding and mutual respect within the Muslim Ummah. He observed that the challenges confronting the Islamic world require collective wisdom, solidarity and a shared commitment to peace, justice and human dignity.
Urging the nation to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), he called on citizens to promote patience, tolerance, compassion and brotherhood and to translate the timeless values of Karbala into practical actions for the betterment of society.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also paid tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the Ahl-e-Bait (AS), and the martyrs of Karbala. He said Karbala conveys a universal message of truth, justice, freedom and human dignity, adding that the spirit of sacrifice, courage and steadfastness demonstrated by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) will continue to inspire humanity for generations.
The Deputy Speaker remarked that the tragedy of Karbala teaches the enduring lesson of standing firm in defence of truth and justice regardless of the challenges and sacrifices involved. He called upon the people to embrace the values of unity, brotherhood and mutual respect and uphold the noble ideals exemplified by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.
