New York, June 26, 2026: The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has unanimously adopted a landmark resolution proclaiming 2027–2036 as the “International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations.” The initiative was introduced by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, reflecting the country’s continued commitment to promoting global peace, sustainable development, and international cooperation.

The newly adopted resolution calls on the international community to intensify efforts to strengthen peace, prevent conflicts, foster dialogue among nations, and create a more secure and just world for present and future generations.

The initiative underscores the importance of building peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies by encouraging governments, international organizations, civil society, academia, and youth to work together in advancing the principles of peace, mutual respect, human dignity, and sustainable development.

Welcoming the adoption of the resolution, President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but a shared responsibility of all nations and peoples.

“Peace is responsibility. Peace is respect for human dignity and honor. Peace is ensuring justice and equal opportunities for all humanity,” President Rahmon said, reaffirming Tajikistan’s longstanding commitment to fostering a culture of peace at the regional and global levels.

The proclamation of the International Decade is expected to provide a global framework for coordinated action aimed at strengthening peace, promoting tolerance, preventing violence, and empowering future generations to contribute to a more stable and prosperous world.

The adoption of the resolution marks another significant diplomatic achievement for Tajikistan at the United Nations and reinforces the country’s active role in advancing international initiatives focused on peace, water cooperation, sustainable development, and global solidarity.
