Prime Ministers of Ethiopia and Pakistan reaffirm strong bilateral ties

Islamabad, June 26,2026: Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, and Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Pakistan, have exchanged messages of goodwill, with both the leaders reaffirming their commitment to advancing bilateral relations.

The exchange began with a congratulatory message from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who felicitated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on the victory of Prosperity Party in the recent parliamentary elections.

“Pakistan and Ethiopia enjoy a warm and steadily growing relationship.

I wish Prime Minister Abiy and the people of Ethiopia continued peace, progress, and prosperity, and look forward to working together to further strengthen the bonds between our two countries,” the Pakistani Prime Minister stated on X.

In response, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy expressed his gratitude to his Pakistani counterpart for the kind remarks, noting that they “reflect the enduring spirit of brotherhood between our two nations.”

“Ethiopia and Pakistan, each navigating the path of transformation and resilience, stand united in their commitment to prosperity and progress,” PM Abiy said.

He further reiterated his commitment to deepening bilateral engagement and advancing the partnership both nations are committed to building.

The relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan are growing in the recent past with the opening of the Ethiopian Embassy Islamabad, start of the Ethiopian Airlines operations from Karachi and exchange of high-level delegations across defence, aviation, trade, investment, education and culture.
