Islamabad, July 1, 2026: Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Mr. Yusuf Sharifzoda, met with Ms. Sitara Ayaz, Secretary General of the International Parliamentarians’ Congress (IPC), to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides explored avenues to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. They underscored the importance of enhancing dialogue between the legislative bodies of the two countries, promoting the exchange of parliamentary experiences, and strengthening collaboration within regional and international organizations.
The two also discussed organizing joint events involving representatives from political, academic, and expert circles as part of the commemorative activities marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda briefed the Secretary General on Tajikistan’s achievements since gaining independence and highlighted the country’s foreign policy under the leadership of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon. He also outlined Tajikistan’s international initiatives in the areas of water resource management, glacier preservation, and the promotion of global peace and stability.
For her part, Ms. Sitara Ayaz reaffirmed the International Parliamentarians’ Congress’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the Republic of Tajikistan through parliamentary diplomacy, facilitating the exchange of experiences, implementing joint initiatives, and organizing international events.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing mutually beneficial cooperation and further strengthening ties between the Republic of Tajikistan and the International Parliamentarians’ Congress.
