Islamabad, July 1, 2026L: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said China and Pakistan should deepen cooperation under CPEC 2.0 and jointly implement China’s global development and security initiatives, while addressing a reception celebrating the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Islamabad.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, ministers, political leaders, diplomats, and members of the Chinese community in Pakistan.

In his remarks, Ambassador Jiang highlighted the CPC’s achievements over the past 105 years, saying the party had transformed China from a poor and semi-feudal society into one of the world’s leading economies. He noted that China’s GDP had increased from 67.9 billion yuan in 1952 to 140.2 trillion yuan in 2025, while nearly 100 million rural residents had been lifted out of poverty.

He said China’s economy continued to show resilience, citing 5 percent GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026 and stable foreign exchange reserves of more than 3.4 trillion US dollars.

The ambassador also underscored China’s commitment to peace, development, and international cooperation. He said the Belt and Road Initiative had generated nearly 1 trillion US dollars in investment and created more than 400,000 jobs worldwide.

Referring to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Ambassador Jiang said the project had brought 25.9 billion US dollars in direct investment to Pakistan, created more than 260,000 jobs, added over 8,000 megawatts of electricity generation capacity, and contributed hundreds of kilometers of highways and transmission infrastructure.

He described CPEC as a “vivid embodiment” of the China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

The ambassador congratulated Pakistan on its recent economic achievements, noting that the country’s GDP had grown by 3.7 percent in fiscal year 2026 to reach 452 billion US dollars, while per capita income had risen by 8.5 percent.

He also praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating understanding between Iran and the United States, calling it a constructive contribution to regional peace and stability.

Ambassador Jiang said that, as China and Pakistan mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year, both countries should deepen cooperation in development planning, political party exchanges, and the implementation of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping.

He concluded by expressing confidence that the “iron-clad friendship” between China and Pakistan would continue to grow stronger and bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.
