Quetta, July 25, 2026: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting lasting peace in Balochistan as he chaired a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti to review the province’s law and order situation and strengthen counterterrorism efforts.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the chief minister briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation, ongoing counterterrorism measures and the provincial government’s strategy to improve law and order.
The meeting decided to further enhance the professional capacity of the Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) and the Balochistan Police while expediting reforms aimed at strengthening the province’s policing system. The Ministry of Interior assured the provincial government of its full cooperation in providing the resources required to achieve these objectives.
“The federal government will continue to provide all possible support for sustainable peace in Balochistan,” Naqvi said during the meeting.
The interior minister stressed the need for the immediate and effective implementation of the province’s peace restoration plan and called for benefiting from the experience of former Balochistan police chiefs in formulating an effective security strategy.
He said modern technology, improved intelligence gathering and coordinated operations were essential for defeating terrorism, adding that the federal and provincial governments were working in complete unity to restore peace in the province.
Chief Minister Bugti reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to remain “one step ahead” of terrorists and said the state would establish its writ at all costs without yielding to any pressure.
He said providing young people with quality education, marketable skills, employment opportunities and constructive activities remained the government’s top priority, adding that promoting merit and equal opportunities would help restore the confidence of the province’s youth.
Bugti also emphasized that peace, development and prosperity were closely interconnected and pledged to accelerate both security initiatives and development projects with the continued support of the federal government.
Naqvi’s visit comes amid heightened security concerns in Balochistan following a series of major terrorist attacks earlier this month, which prompted intensified counterterrorism operations across the province.
According to security sources cited by state media, Operation Shaban resulted in the killing of 91 terrorists between July 5 and July 16, bringing the total number of militants eliminated in operations across Balochistan during that period to 129.
