Islamabad, July 30, 2026: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and the CDA Labour Union on Thursday agreed to strengthen institutional cooperation to address civic and business-related challenges, reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting a cleaner, more efficient and investment-friendly federal capital.
The understanding was reached during a meeting at the ICCI between a delegation of the CDA Labour Union, led by President Aurangzeb Khan and Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, and the Chamber’s leadership.
Welcoming the delegation, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood said the prosperity of Islamabad is closely linked to the efficiency of its civic institutions and the strength of its business community. He said sustainable economic growth requires quality municipal services, modern infrastructure and a business-friendly environment capable of attracting investment and creating employment opportunities.
He praised the dedication of CDA employees in maintaining and improving the capital’s civic infrastructure and assured the delegation that the Chamber would continue to work closely with public institutions for the collective development of Islamabad.
Speaking on the occasion, CDA Labour Union Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin thanked the ICCI leadership for its warm reception and appreciated the Chamber’s efforts to safeguard the interests of the business community. He said the welfare of workers and the growth of trade and industry are interdependent, adding that closer coordination between the CDA Labour Union and ICCI would help resolve civic issues more effectively and contribute to making Islamabad a model capital.
Reaffirming the union’s commitment to democratic, constitutional and peaceful struggle, Yasin said CDA employees have played a vital role in building, maintaining and beautifying the federal capital. He stressed that workers deserve dignity, better working conditions and improved welfare facilities, adding that all issues concerning employees should be resolved through constructive dialogue rather than unilateral decisions.
Chairman ICCI Founder Group Sheikh Tariq Sadiq and former ICCI President Khalid Javaid highlighted the importance of regular engagement between civic institutions and the private sector, saying such collaboration is essential for ensuring uninterrupted municipal services and facilitating commercial activities.
Pakistan Workers Federation General Secretary Assad Mehmood and Additional Deputy General Secretary Mohammad Rizwan also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for stronger coordination between labour representatives and the business community.
In his vote of thanks, ICCI Executive Member Mirza Mohammad Ali reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to collective efforts aimed at addressing civic challenges and improving the ease of doing business in Islamabad.
The session was moderated by former ICCI Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry, who reiterated the Chamber’s resolve to work closely with the CDA Labour Union for the welfare of workers, the business community and the overall development of the federal capital.
The meeting was attended by ICCI Executive Members Imran Minhas and Malik Najeeb, former Senior Vice President Malik Naveed, Vice President Ashfaq Chattah, Chairman of the ICCI Real Estate Committee Israr-ul-Haq Mashwani, representatives of various Traders Welfare Associations, as well as CDA Labour Union Patron-in-Chief Haji Sabir, Supreme Leader Mirza Saeed and other union representatives.
