Islamabad, July 30, 2026: Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan on Thursday held a meeting with Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) Chairman Abdul Basit to discuss challenges facing the poultry industry and explore opportunities for its sustainable growth and export expansion.

During the meeting, the PPA chairman briefed the coordinator on key issues confronting the sector, including the Federal Excise Duty (FED), supply chain constraints, and other factors affecting the industry’s competitiveness. Both sides also discussed strategies to enhance poultry exports and improve access to international markets.

Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan underscored the poultry sector’s important contribution to Pakistan’s economy, describing it as a mature industry with significant potential for further development.

“This is a mature industry which we need to build on,” the coordinator said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting the sector’s growth.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest, with both sides emphasizing the importance of continued engagement between the government and industry stakeholders to address trade-related challenges and promote sustainable economic development.
