Islamabad, July 31, 2026: The Embassy of Morocco in Pakistan hosted a reception to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the accession of King Mohammed VI to the throne, highlighting Morocco’s economic transformation and reaffirming the longstanding friendship between Morocco and Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the event as the chief guest and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Morocco. He said Islamabad attached great importance to its ties with Rabat and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to expand across multiple sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Moroccan Ambassador Mohamed Karmoune highlighted Morocco’s achievements over the past 27 years under the leadership of King Mohammed VI. He said the kingdom had strengthened its democratic institutions, tripled its gross domestic product and significantly expanded social protection programmes, improving access to healthcare and other essential public services.
“Security and stability, as well as the efficiency of state institutions, have allowed important economic development,” the ambassador said.
He noted that Morocco has emerged as a regional hub for industry, tourism and investment, becoming Africa’s largest automobile exporter with an annual production of nearly one million vehicles. He added that the country’s aviation and renewable energy sectors had also witnessed significant growth.
Ambassador Karmoune said Morocco welcomed a record 20 million tourists in 2025, including members of the Moroccan diaspora, attributing the achievement to long-term strategic planning and forward-looking national policies.
Highlighting more than seven decades of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Pakistan, he described the partnership as one founded on mutual respect, trust and shared interests. He noted that regular political consultations, high-level exchanges and cooperation in international forums continued to strengthen bilateral relations.
“We strongly believe that working together will achieve our common development vision and embed our relations in excellence,” Ambassador Karmoune said.
The reception was attended by ambassadors, high commissioners and members of the diplomatic corps, as well as Pakistani political leaders, civil society representatives and members of the business community.
The event celebrated Morocco’s national milestone while reaffirming the enduring friendship and growing partnership between Morocco and Pakistan.
