ISLAMABAD, November 25, 2024- The first round of negotiations between the federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) concluded without any significant progress, according to media reports.

Representing the government, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi engaged in talks with PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif. However, the discussions remained inconclusive as PTI maintained its demand for the immediate release of its founder, Imran Khan, who has been imprisoned since August last year.

Sources revealed that PTI leaders also rejected the government’s proposal to conduct their sit-in at designated locations such as the Parade Ground or Peshawar Mor in the federal capital, insisting on more significant concessions.

Interior Minister Naqvi is expected to brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the outcomes of the meeting. According to insiders, there is a possibility of further rounds of negotiations between the two sides to resolve the impasse.

The talks mark a critical juncture in the ongoing standoff between PTI and the government, with both sides exploring dialogue as a potential path to de-escalation amid growing political tensions.
