Islamabad, December 17, 2024: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir convened a high-level meeting late on Monday to address critical security concerns, including the recent PTI protest in Islamabad, which resulted in several casualties during days-long demonstrations.

While official details of the meeting were not disclosed, a source familiar with the discussion revealed that the gathering focused on the November 24 D-Chowk protest and pledged strict action against those involved in violence, including attacks on law enforcement.

“It was decided that no leniency will be shown to individuals responsible for killing security personnel and destroying public property,” the source stated.

The meeting, which included top security officials, also reviewed the rising wave of terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Additionally, the leadership addressed a fresh warning by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who threatened another protest march to Islamabad if PTI founder Imran Khan is not released from jail.

Marking the 10th anniversary of the Army Public School tragedy, the participants reflected on the somber occasion. Security officials provided comprehensive briefings on both internal and external security challenges.

The leadership reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring justice for victims of violence.
