Rawalpindi, September 9, 2024—Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has confirmed that the rally planned for August 22 was postponed at the request of the establishment. Speaking with journalists at Adiala Jail, Khan revealed that Azam Swati had approached him at 7 a.m. to deliver the request from the establishment. Swati expressed concerns about potential unrest, citing a cricket match and ongoing protests by religious groups in Islamabad that could lead to significant disruptions.

Khan noted that the establishment had promised full support for the rally scheduled for September 8, which influenced his decision to postpone the August 22 event in the interest of national stability.

When asked about his legal troubles, Khan stated that if he had wished to evade the charges against him, he would have left the country. He disclosed that he had been advised to stay silent for three years with the assurance that the cases would be resolved, and he is now seeking legal relief under the recently amended NAB laws.
