Islamabad, February 13, 2025: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has denied receiving any letters, refuting claims made by the former ruling party regarding such communications.

“I have not received any letters, and if I do, I will not read them,” General Munir stated during an informal conversation with reporters at a luncheon hosted in honor of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday.

Dismissing the reports as “mere tactics,” he added, “If any letter were to arrive, I would forward it to the prime minister. The country is progressing well, moving forward, and it must continue to advance.”

The remarks come in response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claims that jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan has written at least two letters to the army chief, addressing public perceptions about the military and elections.

According to Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, the former premier’s upcoming letter will highlight six key points, including grievances against the system and proposed structural reforms to address national challenges. Chaudhry noted that he took notes on Khan’s message during a meeting at Adiala Jail and confirmed that the letter would be sent soon.

Previously, PTI asserted that it had sent two open letters to the army chief, both of which sparked controversy. However, security sources denied receiving the first letter, whose details were leaked to the media. Similarly, the second letter remains undisclosed, with only select highlights shared via Khan’s social media accounts.

It is important to note that the incarcerated former prime minister does not have direct access to his social media accounts, which are managed by a third party.
