Karachi, February 22, 2025: The ongoing investigation into the Mustafa Amir murder case has uncovered disturbing details, as an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi on Saturday extended the physical remand of suspects Armaghan and Sheraz by five days.
Leaked footage obtained by police has exposed lavish parties held at the prime suspect’s house in Karachi’s DHA area, where drug use was allegedly widespread. Investigators also revealed that the prime suspect, Armaghan, kept three lion cubs as pets, which were visible in the recovered video clips.
According to the police, Karachi resident Mustafa Amir went missing on January 6. On February 14, officers disclosed that his charred body had been discovered inside a burned car in Balochistan’s Dureji area.
The breakthrough in the case came when one of the suspects confessed to the crime, leading police to uncover the chilling details. Investigators believe the murder stemmed from a dispute involving a girl, with a suspect stating that Mustafa and Armaghan were childhood friends before tensions escalated.
Earlier on Saturday, ATC Karachi granted a five-day extension in the remand of the suspects, despite Investigation Officer Muhammad Ali requesting 14 days to record additional witness statements.
Ali informed the court that firearms and a laptop recovered from Armaghan’s residence would be sent for forensic analysis. Statements from two employees of the prime suspect were still pending.
Authorities have also launched an investigation into money laundering allegations against Armaghan, who is wanted in multiple cases across Karachi’s Boat Basin, Clifton, Darakhshan, and Sahil police stations.
Armaghan reportedly operated an illegal call center and warehouse, with potential links to financial crimes. The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing has joined the probe, assisting in analyzing digital evidence, including laptops and other data seized from Armaghan’s residence.
An FIA official confirmed that a money laundering case would be registered if sufficient evidence is found.
In a parallel development, Karachi police arrested four individuals, including the son of well-known TV actor Sajid Hasan, during raids targeting drug-related activities.
Authorities recovered illegal substances from the actor’s son, and senior police officials confirmed that his family had been informed. The arrests are part of a larger crackdown on drug trafficking in the city.
Meanwhile, DNA test results have officially confirmed that the burned body found in Balochistan belonged to Mustafa Amir. Samples taken from the remains matched the DNA of Mustafa’s mother, confirming his identity. The three-member medical team, including Dr. Summaiya Syed, Dr. Seri Chand, and Dr. Kamran Khan, conducted the tests at the University of Karachi’s lab.
The victim’s body remains at the Edhi Moach Goth cemetery pending final forensic results, after which it will be handed over to the family.
