Lahore, April 7, 2025: A clinical all-round performance from Pakistan saw them cruise to a commanding five-wicket win over West Indies in their second warm-up match ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier on Monday.
Chasing a target of 189, Pakistan sealed victory with 23 balls to spare, losing just five wickets along the way. The win continued their strong momentum following a dominant outing against Thailand in their opening warm-up game.
Vice-captain Muneeba Ali led the chase with a composed 87 off 113 balls, supported by a fluent 53 from Natalia Parvaiz, who faced just 60 deliveries. The pair anchored the innings, building a solid foundation after early wickets. Gull Feroza added a steady 28 to keep the chase on track.
Earlier, West Indies managed 188 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs, struggling against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack. Sadia Iqbal starred with the ball, returning impressive figures of 3 for 21. She was well supported by Nashra Sandhu (2 for 47), while skipper Fatima Sana, Diana Baig, and Rameen Shamim each chipped in with a wicket.
For the West Indies, Shabika Gajnabi top-scored with a resilient unbeaten 68, while Jannillea Glasgow contributed 41. However, their efforts were not enough to challenge Pakistan’s strong response.
This was Pakistan’s second straight win in warm-up fixtures, having thrashed Thailand by seven wickets with a staggering 187 balls to spare earlier.
The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier is set to begin on April 9, with Pakistan taking on Ireland in the tournament opener. West Indies will face Scotland on the same day at the LCCA Ground.
The top two teams at the conclusion of the league stage will qualify for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, joining automatic qualifiers Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and hosts India, who secured their spots via the ICC Women’s Championship 2022–25.
