Mumbai, April 7, 2025: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone is set to surprise audiences with a powerful new role—as the on-screen mother of Suhana Khan’s character in the highly anticipated action thriller King. The casting has sparked amusement and excitement among fans, especially as it marks the second time Deepika is portraying the mother of a star kid on screen—the first being a cameo as Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in Brahmastra (2022).
King is already one of the most talked-about upcoming films, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role as a mysterious assassin. Suhana Khan, making her major theatrical debut, will star alongside her father, while Deepika’s character is said to bring an emotionally grounded and impactful presence to the storyline.
Reports suggest that Deepika’s role, though an extended cameo, will be significant—portraying a nurturing yet strong maternal figure central to Suhana’s character arc. This also marks Deepika’s sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, following hits like Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Pathaan, and Jawan.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and co-produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Productions, King reportedly draws inspiration from the 1994 French classic Léon: The Professional. While Shah Rukh takes on the titular role, Abhishek Bachchan is rumored to play the antagonist, adding to the film’s star-studded allure.
Adding a personal touch to the casting, King will also be Deepika’s first on-screen appearance since becoming a mother in September 2024—making her return even more meaningful for fans and the industry alike.
With a stellar cast, gripping narrative, and emotionally rich characters, King is shaping up to be a cinematic spectacle—and Deepika Padukone’s maternal turn could very well be its emotional heartbeat.
