Islamabad, January 25, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and chairman Imran Khan has made a pre-condition to meet with the party’s negotiation committee before the fourth round of talks with the government, according to sources.
Imran Khan has stated that the PTI’s final stance on the talks will only be determined after his meeting with the committee. Sources revealed that he emphasized this condition for the negotiations scheduled before January 28.
A few days earlier, Imran Khan had announced the suspension of talks with the government, with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stating that the fourth round of talks would not take place. However, the following day, Gohar suggested reconsidering the talks, provided the government first announces the formation of a judicial commission.
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had announced that the fourth meeting of the government and opposition negotiation committees would take place on January 28. However, PTI declined to participate in the committee’s meeting.
Sources also indicated that Imran Khan has expressed concerns over corruption issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He reportedly conveyed a message to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, urging him to step back from local political dynamics in Dera Ismail Khan.
In addition, sources disclosed that Imran Khan had lengthy discussions in prison with Junaid Akbar and Atif Khan, assigning Akbar the task of streamlining party matters in KP.
