Islamabad, March 8, 2025: Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani expressed strong discontent over the authorities’ failure to produce Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, despite his repeated production orders. He warned that such defiance of parliamentary directives would not be tolerated, a statement met with approval from lawmakers in the House.

Chairman Gilani had issued production orders for two PTI senators—Ejaz Chaudhry and Aon Abbas Buppi—just a day earlier, but only Buppi was brought before the Senate.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Buppi expressed gratitude to the chairman for ensuring his presence in the House. However, he recounted a distressing account of his arrest, revealing that around 20 individuals stormed his house and factory early in the morning, subjecting him to intimidation and harassment.

He further stated that some of the intruders forcefully entered his bedroom, physically assaulted him, and seized his mobile phone. Later, when presented before a judge, he was informed that the charges against him involved the illegal hunting of five deer.

Buppi said that rather than feeling relieved at his presence in the Senate, he was deeply frustrated by the continued absence of Ejaz Chaudhry, despite clear orders from the chairman.

Lamenting what he described as selective compliance with the chairman’s directives, Buppi alleged that his production order was only enforced to placate Gilani, fearing that he might boycott the session otherwise.

In a dramatic move, he demanded the cancellation of his own production order, stating that he preferred to return to prison rather than participate in proceedings while his fellow senator remained absent. He vowed not to attend future sessions until Ejaz Chaudhry was also brought before the Senate, asserting that he would only seek release through legal channels.

As Buppi attempted to leave the chamber following his speech, Chairman Gilani stopped him and issued a formal ruling, reaffirming the Senate’s authority and the need for compliance with parliamentary orders.
