Lahore, March 14, 2025: Eight Pakistan cricketers have been fined a total of Rs 3 million for various breaches of the code of conduct since the home Test series against England last year, sources confirmed on Friday.
All-rounder Aamir Jamal received the heaviest fine of approximately Rs 1.3 million for wearing a cap with a political slogan during an interview in the first Test against England in October 2024.
Additionally, three national players were fined Rs 500,000 each for arriving late at the team hotel during Pakistan’s white-ball tour of Australia in November 2024. Similarly, during the subsequent tour of South Africa, four cricketers—Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, and Abbas Afridi—were penalized for violating the team’s curfew.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has maintained that disciplinary actions are internal matters and refrains from making such details public to protect players’ reputations.
This development comes at a time when the national team is facing severe criticism following their early exit from the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Hosts and defending champions Pakistan failed to secure a single victory in the tournament, suffering defeats against New Zealand and India, while their final group-stage match against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain.
