Peshawar, March 14, 2025: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have identified the suicide bombers involved in the recent attacks on Darul Uloom Haqqania and Bannu cantonment, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed on Friday.

Speaking to the media, Hameed stated that investigations into both incidents are ongoing, with authorities successfully obtaining CCTV footage from the attack sites. Forensic analysis of body parts has led to the identification of the suicide bombers, while the vehicles used in the Bannu attack have also been traced.

The attack on Bannu cantonment, which left five soldiers and 13 civilians dead, involved the use of foreign weapons, according to police findings. Security forces managed to neutralize 16 attackers during the assault. Meanwhile, in Akora Khattak, a powerful blast at Darul Uloom Haqqania claimed the lives of a senior cleric and four worshippers, leaving several others injured.

Investigators are now working to determine whether the suicide bombers entered Pakistan from abroad and how they were smuggled in. The IGP also confirmed that more than 100 individuals have been arrested in connection with unrest in Kurram, where authorities believe terrorist elements played a role in recent violence.

As part of ongoing security efforts, the families of those killed in the Bannu blast have received compensation of PKR 1 million each. Additionally, the provincial government has approved the Safe City Project, which is expected to be completed in the coming months to enhance security monitoring and response capabilities.

Hameed assured that a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to prevent further incidents, expressing confidence that stability will soon be restored in the region.
