Islamabad, March 16, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday commended the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) for their relentless efforts in combating human trafficking, particularly for the recent arrest of Usman Jajja, a notorious ringleader involved in multiple trafficking cases.

Addressing a high-level meeting with FIA and IB officials, alongside ministers and the Interior Secretary, the prime minister expressed confidence that with continued dedication, the scourge of human trafficking would be eradicated once and for all. The meeting was broadcast live on national television.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the agencies for apprehending Usman Jajja, who was linked to several tragic human trafficking incidents, including the Greece boat disaster last year, where several Pakistani nationals lost their lives.

“The dark business of human trafficking has tarnished Pakistan’s image globally,” the premier remarked. “It has caused immense suffering, with many Pakistanis perishing in maritime disasters near Italy and Morocco—bringing not only loss of life but also international embarrassment for the country.”

The prime minister directed authorities to intensify their crackdown against human trafficking networks. He urged officials to remain vigilant and dedicated, ensuring that Pakistan’s name is restored through their tireless efforts against organized crime.

To recognize their contributions, Shehbaz Sharif awarded Rs1 million cash prizes and appreciation shields to officials involved in dismantling the trafficking networks.

During the meeting, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and the Interior Secretary provided a detailed briefing on the agencies’ operations. Additionally, the FIA and IB director generals updated the prime minister on the arrests of key traffickers, operators, and facilitators involved in smuggling Pakistani nationals abroad through illegal means.

With this latest crackdown, the government reaffirms its zero-tolerance policy against human traffickers and pledges to continue uncompromising action to ensure the safety and dignity of Pakistani citizens.
