Islamabad, March 16, 2025: The government has decided to convene a Parliamentary National Security Committee meeting in response to the escalating wave of terrorism across the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has begun consultations, and the meeting is expected to take place on March 19 or 20, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

According to sources, the session will be closed-door, with participation from top military leadership, intelligence officials, federal ministers, and leaders of all parliamentary parties. The entire National Assembly will be transformed into the Security Committee for the session.

The meeting will focus on the increasing terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, with military leadership providing a detailed briefing to lawmakers. Future strategies to combat terrorism will also be discussed.

Additionally, the committee will review Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s proposal for a “National Action Plan 2.0” and explore expanding counter-terrorism operations. The implementation of the existing National Action Plan will also be assessed to ensure effective countermeasures against terrorism.
