Heavy vehicles banned from entering Islamabad, Rawalpindi on March 22-23

Islamabad, March 21, 2025: Authorities have imposed a temporary ban on the entry of heavy vehicles into Islamabad and Rawalpindi from March 22 to March 23 as part of security and traffic management measures for Pakistan Day celebrations.

According to official directives, heavy vehicles will be halted at designated checkpoints to ensure smooth traffic flow in the twin cities:

  • From Peshawar via GT Road → Stopped at Margalla and Taxila
  • From Peshawar via Motorway → Restricted at Burhan Interchange
  • From Lahore via Motorway → Halted at Chakri Interchange
  • From Lahore via GT Road → Stopped at Mandra Toll Plaza
  • From Kashmir & Murree → Restricted 20 km before 17 Mile Toll Plaza

Authorities have advised truck and trailer operators to avoid travel towards the twin cities during the restriction period. Drivers should plan their journeys accordingly and park their vehicles at secure locations until the ban is lifted.
