Islamabad, March 23, 2025: The nation celebrated Pakistan Day with patriotic zeal on Sunday, commemorating the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940. A grand military parade took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr, marking a departure from its traditional venue at Shakarparian Parade Ground.

The day’s events began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr for national peace, progress, and prosperity.

President Asif Ali Zardari presided over the ceremony as the chief guest, accompanied by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, service chiefs, and other dignitaries.

In his speech, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s resilience, emphasizing that the nation stands fully equipped to tackle internal and external challenges. He underscored “Unity, Faith, and Discipline” as the guiding principles for national progress and stability.

He paid homage to the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s independence and reiterated the commitment to transforming the country into a modern welfare state based on justice, equality, and the rule of law.

Addressing security concerns, the president warned of external threats from India and militant groups, assuring that Pakistan’s armed forces and its people remain steadfast in defending the country’s sovereignty.

He also stressed the need to strengthen national defense, revitalize the economy, and create employment opportunities for youth, whom he described as Pakistan’s greatest asset.

On foreign policy, Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, urging the international community to ensure their right to self-determination.

A key highlight of the celebrations was the Pakistan Day military parade, where President Zardari reviewed contingents of the armed forces in immaculate formation. He received a presidential salute as the national anthem echoed through the venue.

In a nod to tradition, the president arrived in a ceremonial chariot, escorted by bodyguards on horseback, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.

In his Pakistan Day message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reflected on the significance of March 23, 1940, when South Asian Muslims, under Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership, laid the foundation for an independent homeland.

He highlighted that with strategic policies, unity, and collective effort, Pakistan can achieve economic prosperity and global recognition.

As Pakistan Day coincides with Ramadan this year, the prime minister urged citizens to renew their commitment to faith, sacrifice, and perseverance, values that remain the cornerstone of the nation’s foundation.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Service Chiefs also extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation on Pakistan Day.

According to ISPR, the military leadership emphasized that Pakistan remains unwavering in its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and strengthen democratic institutions.

“With unwavering determination and divine guidance, Pakistan will continue to protect its frontiers and ensure the safety and well-being of its people,” the statement read.

Pakistan Day serves as a powerful reminder of the country’s resilience, unity, and shared vision for a stronger, more prosperous future.
