Israeli airstrikes, ground assaults kill 71 Palestinians in Gaza

Gaza, April 3, 2025: At least 71 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s latest wave of airstrikes and ground assaults on Gaza since Wednesday morning, bringing the total death toll to over 1,100 since Israel ended the truce last month.

In a separate incident, an Israeli airstrike on a UN-run health clinic in northern Gaza killed at least 22 Palestinian civilians, including women, children, and elderly people, according to local authorities. Gaza’s government media office condemned the attack as a “full-fledged war crime.” Medical sources confirmed that at least nine children were among the dead, with dozens more injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the strike ignited a massive fire, burning the bodies of several victims. The Israeli army admitted responsibility for the attack, claiming—without evidence—that Hamas fighters were operating from the clinic. Hamas dismissed the allegations as a “blatant fabrication aimed at justifying the crime.”

Israel has intensified its bombardment across Gaza since Wednesday, with at least 21 more Palestinians killed in separate attacks, according to medics. The UNRWA clinic targeted in the latest strike had previously been bombed during Israel’s ongoing offensive, which began in October 2023.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to escalate attacks on Gaza amid reports of a US-backed plan to displace Palestinians from the enclave. Israel’s military launched a new aerial campaign on March 18, shattering a January ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.

Since October 2023, more than 50,400 Palestinians—mostly women and children—have been killed in Gaza. The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over its ongoing military campaign.
