Lahore, May 9, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the postponement of the remaining eight matches of HBL Pakistan Super League X, citing the rapidly deteriorating national security situation as tensions with India escalate.

This decision follows the earlier relocation of the PSL to the United Arab Emirates, a precautionary measure taken to safeguard players and officials amid growing regional instability. However, the latest wave of Indian military aggression—including the incursion of 78 drones and the firing of surface-to-surface missiles—has led the PCB to suspend the tournament altogether.

The move comes on the advice of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who emphasized the need for national unity and focus during a time when the Armed Forces of Pakistan are valiantly defending the country’s sovereignty along the Line of Control (LoC).

In a statement issued Friday, the PCB said, “While cricket has always been a source of national pride and unity, the reckless escalation by India demands our undivided national attention. The PSL will respectfully pause as our nation stands in solidarity with the brave soldiers and the families of the martyrs who are making the ultimate sacrifice.”

The PCB extended its gratitude to franchise owners, players, broadcasters, sponsors, and international stakeholders for their support in successfully conducting the tournament up to this point—despite mounting logistical and security challenges.

“In times of crisis, the mental well-being and safety of our players—especially foreign cricketers—must take precedence,” the statement added. “We fully understand and respect the concerns expressed by players and their families, many of whom have been anxiously following developments from abroad.”

New dates for the remaining matches of HBL PSL X will be announced once the situation stabilizes and the security apparatus deems it appropriate to resume operations.
