Rawalpindi, May 13, 2025: A total of 51 Pakistanis, including 40 civilians and 11 armed forces personnel, were martyred in Indian strikes during the recent military confrontation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

In an official statement, the military’s media wing provided updated casualty figures from what it termed “unprovoked and barbaric” attacks carried out by the Indian Armed Forces on the night of May 6 and 7. The strikes targeted civilian areas, including women, children, and the elderly.

“These inhumane attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 40 civilians, including seven women and 15 children, while 121 others sustained injuries, among them 10 women and 27 children,” the ISPR said.

The Pakistan Armed Forces, in response, launched a resolute counter-offensive under the banner of Marka-e-Haq, executing precise retaliatory strikes as part of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

Eleven military personnel embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while 78 were wounded while defending the nation with what ISPR described as “exemplary valour.”

The names of the martyred personnel were released as follows:

Pakistan Army

  • Naik Abdul Rehman, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, Sepoy Nisar

Pakistan Air Force

  • Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, Senior Technician Mubashir

“These noble sacrifices stand as a timeless testament to the courage, devotion, and unwavering patriotism of our heroes,” the ISPR stated, adding that the armed forces and the people of Pakistan pay solemn tribute to the martyrs and pray for the swift recovery of the injured.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to national defence, the statement concluded: “Let there be no ambiguity, any future attempt to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with a swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response, Inshallah.”

Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, described by officials as “precise and proportionate,” targeted multiple Indian military positions across various regions. The strikes were launched in retaliation for continued Indian aggression across the Line of Control (LoC) and within Pakistani territory — actions India claims were in response to last month’s Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours lasted approximately 87 hours, ending on May 10 after a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States.
