Islamabad, May 27, 2025: A high-level Pakistani diplomatic delegation, led by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, is set to embark on a critical mission to the United States and Europe to counter what Pakistan describes as India’s “false war narrative” amid escalating regional tensions.
Formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the delegation will depart for New York on June 2. In New York, the team is scheduled to hold key meetings with United Nations officials, including the UN Secretary-General. The delegation will also brief members of the UN Security Council on India’s recent actions, including alleged misinformation campaigns and ongoing human rights violations in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Following their engagements at the UN, the delegation will travel to Washington, D.C., for high-level meetings with senior officials from the Trump administration. The objective is to present Pakistan’s perspective on the current crisis and to highlight India’s military posture and aggressive rhetoric.
In addition to the U.S. visit, the diplomatic team is expected to tour several European capitals to raise international awareness and garner support for Pakistan’s stance on the situation with India.
The committee, established by Prime Minister Shehbaz earlier this month, includes key political and diplomatic figures such as Senator Musadik Malik, PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir, former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar, and veteran diplomat Jalil Abbas Jilani. The delegation’s mission underscores Islamabad’s commitment to intensifying diplomatic outreach in response to the evolving security landscape in South Asia.
