Lahore, May 30, 2025: Pakistan sealed a comprehensive 57-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20 International at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The triumph marks Pakistan’s first T20I series win on home soil since 2021, delivering a timely boost ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted a formidable total of 201 for 6, powered by a blistering 74 off 41 balls from Sahibzada Farhan. The right-hander smashed four boundaries and six towering sixes at a strike rate of 180.48, setting the tone for a high-scoring innings. Despite losing wickets in the death overs, Pakistan’s aggressive approach ensured they crossed the 200-run mark comfortably.

Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib picking up two wickets each but lacking support from the rest of the attack.

In reply, Bangladesh crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for 144 in 19 overs. Only Tanzim Hasan Sakib showed resistance with a counter-attacking 50 off 31 deliveries, which featured five sixes. However, a lack of partnerships and disciplined bowling from Pakistan stifled the chase.

Spinner Abrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, claiming 3 for 19 in his four-over spell. Faheem Ashraf impressed with his economy, conceding just 8 runs in 2 overs and taking a wicket. Shadab Khan, Khushdil Shah, and Saim Ayub also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Bangladesh’s woes were compounded by an injury to pacer Shoriful Islam, who did not come out to bat.

With this emphatic win, Pakistan not only wrapped up the series but also silenced critics questioning their recent T20 form. The hosts will aim for a clean sweep when the third and final T20I is played at the same venue on Sunday, while Bangladesh will look to avoid a whitewash and reclaim some pride.
