Islamabad, June 2, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, accompanied by Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Syed Nasir Ali Rizvi and senior officers from relevant departments, visited the Islamabad Model Jail site on Monday to review construction progress.

During the visit, project engineers and senior officials briefed the Chairman on various components of the ongoing construction, being executed in two phases.

According to the briefing, 98% of the RCC compound and boundary wall work and 72% of the barracks’ construction have been completed in the first phase. Similarly, 96% of the administrative block and 75% of the road and sewage infrastructure are also finished.

Progress on internal facilities includes 70% completion of the jail’s hospital and central kitchen, while 24 out of 34 sentry posts have been constructed. Work on the central watchtower has reached 72% completion.

Chairman Randhawa directed that provision of basic utilities, including water and electricity, be ensured without delay. He also stressed the urgent finalization of the sewage treatment plant’s design and cost estimates.

Further, he instructed relevant departments to expedite the furnishing of the admin block, hospital, and warden barracks.

Emphasizing the importance of quality and punctuality, Randhawa reiterated that there must be no compromise on construction standards, and urged all departments involved to ensure timely and high-standard completion of the remaining work.

The Islamabad Model Jail project is one of the capital’s key infrastructure developments aimed at modernizing the correctional system and alleviating pressure on existing facilities.
